Questions for application:

Can you see any parallels between Jesus’ description of a thief and today’s cancel culture? See John 10:10.

Why does laying up treasures in Heaven make even more sense in light of the social & moral upheaval all around us? See Matthew 6:19-21; Colossians 3:1-2.

What is it that makes Christian this-life service to count for eternity? See I Corinthians 15:14, 20, 57. (If Christ’s life & works were not in vain; if faith

in our risen Savior is not in vain, neither are the works done by faith in Him. They’re actually works His Spirit accomplishes through believers v. 10.)

See also Hebrews 6:10; Revelation 14:13).

If we have testified of Christ and His Word to people and they ignore it/us, have we testified to no purpose? (Hint: God’s testimony is often ignored, rejected, contradicted. Dare we even think He has spoken in vain if what is spoken doesn’t gain a hearing?).
